Most Popular Racket Brands On The ATP Tour

What is the split?

Over the past two decades, the landscape of racket brand usage among ATP Tour players has evolved, yet certain patterns remain consistent. Wilson and Head have traditionally dominated the scene, often vying for the top spot in player endorsements. Often, a generation of players will use a particular type or brand of racket, sometimes based on location and the availability of non-local brands.

Certain players can also have a huge influence on which rackets remain popular at the recreational level. In the ’80s and ’90s, it was the Wilson Pro Staff 85 used by Edberg, Sampras, Courier, and Federer. Federer later had his own cult following with the Pro Staff 90 line throughout much of his early career before switching to the RF97. Roddick made the Babolat Pure Drive series popular in the American market, while Rafa’s Aero line catapulted Babolat to new heights and continues to be a popular choice among notable adopters like Alcaraz, Rune, and Auger-Aliassime.

When you look at the most popular racket brands used on the ATP Tour’s top 100 players, a few names clearly dominate the scene. Wilson leads the pack with 30 players, while Yonex, Head, and Babolat are all close behind.

But what’s really interesting is how things shift in the top 10. Head jumps out with 5 players, way ahead of the others. So while Wilson might be the most popular overall, Head seems to be the go-to for players at the very top.

It makes you wonder, are certain rackets better suited for a particular play style, swing speed, touch or something more? Or is it just a matter of style, sponsorship, or trust in the brand?
