Thoughts?
When it comes to serving, unfortunately, height does play a significant role. The top two positions are occupied by players measuring 6’10” and 6’11”, respectively. The angle they can achieve with their serves makes them extremely consistent and hard to break, especially on fast surfaces. Others rely on pure placement and variety to achieve high numbers, like Federer, who possesses an excellent slice variation to mix up his serves.
While aces are often influenced by physical attributes, wins are more about skill, consistency, mental toughness, variation, adaptation, longevity, and more. To be a champion and consistently win, you must excel in many of these areas. So far, no one has managed to displace Connors at the top of the list. Whether that will ever happen in the future remains to be seen.
